Luttrell scale model of the “Mt. Washburn Special” coach, one of the Yellowstone touring coaches. Three passenger bench seats, with rolled white canvas curtains and great strap and buckle details. Painted on sides, “Y-W / 54 / Mt. Washburn Special”. Built in the early 1900s, these coaches were constructed with the axles pushed up high for clearance on the mountain. Only five or six were ever built for the Mt. Washburn route. 34" overall by 15" tall, body is 15" long by 11" wide.

Miniature Yellowstone Western coach by master maker, Roy Luttrell. Scale model of the coach that was employed to bring visitors from Cody on the 60 mile trip to Yellowstone Park in the early 1870s. (Once at the Park, visitors would transfer to a sight-seeing coach.) Three passenger bench seats, with leather top and fringed decoration. 36 1/2" long overall with the tongue. Body is 14 1/2" tall, 10" wide, 22" long.

A wonderful Luttrell scale model of the circa 1850s wagon built specifically for the mountainous terrain of the western states. Canvas curtains and boot cover, leather trim, turnbuckle suspension. No detail is spared, from the lockbox filled with money bags to the U.S. Mail bag, and the velvet hat box to the family trunk with teddy bear and violin. 37" overall; 18" body x 16" tall, 10" wide.

Roy Luttrell Miniature "DeMoss" Stagecoach
A Luttrell miniature scale Mud Wagon coach modeled after the “DeMoss” Stagecoach that traveled between Carson City, Nevada to Hangtown, California in the 1860s, carrying such luminaries as Mark Twain, Ulysses S. Grant, and Horace Greeley. The body is 21" long, the coach overall is 38" 1//2" wide and 16" tall including the bags and luggage.

Mud Wagons had canvas tops and sides to reduce the weight on the muddy and rough roads of the Western terrain. They also cost about half the price of a full Concord Coach.

Both the consignor of this lot, and Old West Events, are donating all proceeds from its sale to benefit the Yellowstone Historic Center located in West Yellowstone, Montana.

A rare poster for “Henry Starr in A Debtor to the Law”. An original "Pan American Motion Picture Corp" one-sheet stone lithograph. The 1919 movie starred Henry Starr and Paul Curry playing themselves in the story of their real-life failed bank robbery. Folds show in this beautiful poster but it is overall in very good condition. 41" x 27" and framed to 43 1/2" x 28 1/2".

Henry Starr led a gang of bank robbers in Oklahoma around the turn of the century. In 1915 his gang decided to rob two banks at one time in Stroud Oklahoma. But the then 17-year-old Paul Curry foiled the plan and shot both Starr and another gang member. Lawmen captured the rest of the gang, and they were eventually sent to prison. When Starr was released from prison five years later, he decided to make a movie of the bungled bank robbery. He went back to Stroud to film the movie, using the actual tellers he had robbed as extras. Starr played himself and hired Curry, the man who shot him, to play himself. Starr was shot to death two years later in Arkansas while trying to rob a bank.

1915 silent film directed by Bill Tilghman, famous U.S. Marshal and Oklahoma lawman. The film featured real lawman and cowboys from the 101 Ranch. The lithograph has image of crossed Winchesters and Colt Revolvers along with Tilghman's badges. The border is formed by cartridges and scabbards. It reads,
"The Passing of the Oklahoma Outlaws" and "The Most Wonderful Western Picture Ever Produced. Facts not Fiction". At the bottom, “The Law of Pioneer Days in Oklahoma". 41" x 27" with matting on the edges, framed to 44" x 30". Folds evident but colors are bright and sharp. A very scarce and early lithograph.

A very western wall treatment. Longhorn mount with a 62" spread, on a 16" x 13" old shield-shaped plaque. Together with a nice, early rawhide reata, and very early pair of fringed shotgun chaps. The ensemble is completed by a very cool, folk-arty pair of Texas gal leg spurs, cowboy-blacksmith-made with full foot, leg and thigh, and 2 1/2" long shanks. The rowels are thin steel 5-point stars, 2 1/2" across. One-piece split bands are 1/2" wide with upturned buttons and crude copper overlay. Old handmade straps.

This great old cowboy display is from Bob McCubbin’s famous library where it hung among the books and photos.

Charles Morgan Mosaic of Indian and Deer from Historic Chicago Art Deco Building
Spectacular 4-foot by 4-foot section of wall, framed, with original and beautiful Charles L. Morgan mosaic, removed from Chicago’s landmark Powhatan building. The mosaic is done on plaster or concrete board and has been covered and sealed with a resin-type substance to protect the artwork. Mosaic/wall measures 45" x 48" and is surrounded by a 3 1/4" molding to make a total framed size of 51 1/2" x 54 1/2".

Charles L. Morgan was an architect on the Powhatan Building in Chicago in 1929, and was responsible for the colorful mosaics throughout the interiors and on the façade, many with Native American designs and motifs. Morgan was an Associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, and it is said that his designs for the Powhatan were a tribute to Wright’s Midway Gardens, which were being demolished at the time. The Powhatan Building, on Chicago’s south lakefront, is considered one of the city’s Art Deco masterpieces.
