Description

700+ total lots of authentic Western art, antiques, artifacts and collectibles to be auctioned over 2 evening sessions, January 20th and 21st, 2023. Lots 1-394 will be sold on Friday; lots 400-732 will sell on Saturday.

Highlights of this sale include remarkable Roy Rogers and Dale Evans material, including Dale’s personal tooled gun rig with Colt revolver (cover lot), Roy’s Nudie’s gun rig, Roy’s Bianchi gun rig, Roy & Dale’s monogrammed Tiffany silver service, and other Rogers family memorabilia. Edward Bohlin pieces are also among the highlights, including multiple silver parade saddles, bridles and buckles, including one of Ed’s personal Bohlin buckle sets. For fans of the TV series Yellowstone, original oil paintings by Dave Powell, which are prominently featured on the show behind John Dutton’s and Kayce Dutton’s desks, will cross the block on Saturday night. Other fine art includes works by Eanger Irving Couse, Nick Eggenhofer, Ed Borein, Peter Hurd, Dave McGary, and many others. For the bit and spur collectors, we will be offering a single-owner, fresh-to-market collection of some of the rarest and most collectable makers. Wild West show lithographs and memorabilia, vintage hats and clothing, historic ephemera, Hollywood cowboy screen-worn costumes, and other western treasures will all be offered. a) An eight-slot 200 chip rack with 115 "Evening Star" clay chips in red, white and blue. There are 54 "Spread Cards" chips also in red, white and blue. Two card slots. Rack sets into a lidded wood box, 10" x 6 1/2" x 5 1/2".
b) A 200 chip rack holding a total of 197 red, white and blue clay chips. A spot of mother of pearl decorates the handle. With a wood hinged lid box.
c) A partial box of "Eagle Engraved" chips by Harris with the original correct label. The box contains 31 white, 20 red and 19 blue. Edges of the box are worn and separating.

Lot of two (2) round wood chip racks with chips and card slots. a) Large 600 chip revolving rack; 11 3/4" diameter by 5 1/2" tall on swivel base. Includes 350 clay numerical chips, 1's, 5's, 10' and 50's, and 4 decks of vintage cards. Nickel lift-up handle. b) A revolving 300 chip rack with 285 hard-to-find numerical clay chips done in the Old Style. There are 70, 100's in chocolate color; 70, 50's in blue; 50, 25's in yellow; 70, 25's in red; 15, 10's in green and 10, 1's in white. With 2 deck slots with cards. 9 3/4" across with loop handle, 5" tall with cover.

Lot of 3 Vintage Chip Racks with Composite Chips

a) Hexagon shaped lidded rack with 184 clay chips with the Triumph design. 3 stacks of yellow and 3 stacks of red. Slots for 2 decks which are filled with 2 boxes of Seneca cards. Nickeled handle and hardware. b) A 9 1/2" dia. rack for holding 300 chips, it now contains 115 chips with a circle diamond design in red, blue, white and a few in maroon. It has 2 empty card slots and a folding handle. Includes a rack cover. c) An 8-section rectangular rack 9" x 4 3/4" with stacks red, blue, and yellow fleur-de-lis pattern chips, 159 in total. The nice polished rack has a mother of pearl inlay in the center of the handle. 2 decks of 808 cards fill the slots.

Three vintage San Francisco squeezers, all with rosewood handles; all late 1800s. a) J. H Schintz, San Francisco, brass hardware. Joseph Herman Schintz made items for Will & Finck under contract, and proba- bly made their lime squeezers, 10 1/4". b) Will & Finck, S. F., 9 3/4" long. Will & Finck of San Francisco supplied a lot of Saloon and Bar equipment, This Lime Squeezer has their name stamped on the decorative metal hinge, which is brass with worn nickel plating. Will & Finck were well-known knife makers. c) Nathan. Dohrmann & Co., S. F., 10 1/4" long. Nathan, Dohr- mann & Co. were proprietors of a great store in San Francisco.

A full size, saloon or casino table of mahogany with claw feet and felt top. The wheel is complete and in working order. The underside screws and the wheel spindle are missing. 97" long by 43" wide and 3 feet tall. Comes with a chip rack with partial stacks. Purchased at the auction of the casino of Arnold Rothstein in Saratoga Springs. Charles "Lucky" Luciano, Meyer Lan- sky and Dutch Shultz all worked the tables.

A group of various cowboy and cowgirl items from the Tom Mix Circus. a) Lot of ten (10) unmarked Buermann style single spurs: 3 Eureka pattern spurs, 1 OK, 4 of pattern 1244 with jingle-bobs (one broken), 1 Austin. 1 large 1252 (California) pattern. b) Lot of three (3) Miscellaneous Belts, a pierced and inlaid belt with white enameled buttons, 2 3/4” wide by 29”. A 2 1/4” wide belt with rows of jeweled studs, double buckles and 30” long. A triple buckle brass studded belt, 3 1/2” x 25”. c) 6 Black studded Chap tops, one basket stamped chap top with the “C.P’ Shipley / Kansas City” cartouche. d) 18 single wrist cuffs, studded, overlaid, enameled, horseshoes, stars, etc. and one pair of plain cuffs. e) A 3 1/2” studded belt with double buckles and a suspended studded holster. f) Two carved wooded and painting horse hooves. Why, don’t know. But nice folk art. 8 1/4” tall. g) A heavy belt studded with large copper studs and iron hardware. 2 1/2” wide by 51” long. Appears to be for “The Circus Strong Man”. h) Lot of Military & English Style Spurs. Twelve pair & seven singles, nickel steel, all are roweled style. Most are made with spear (nail) and screw holes for attaching to boots (box type). Most are swan neck design. One very unique single with clip heels and marked “Pat’d 1869” i) Black High Top Theatrical Boots, black leather with 2 piece tops. 25 1/2” tall and 11” toe to heel. Some loss to the surface finish, scuffed and cracked at the shoe. The style used by the famous Buffalo Bill Cody and other Wild West celebrities. Provenance: A.T.
