A Wells Fargo Ithaca Double Barreled Shotgun. *S/N 262683, 12 gauge, 24 inch barrels (not cut), Wells Fargo Ithaca shotgun. Blue finish, walnut stock and forearm, hard rubber butt plate, right side frame marked "ITHACA GUN CO ITHACA, N.Y." Stamped "W F & Co Ex" on left side of frame. Circa 1915. Condition: bright smooth bores, 70% barrel blue thinning, frame mottled plum blue, stock cracked and repaired left side of tang, numerous use dings, excellent mechanically, excellent marks except the "EX. Co." portion scratched.
Includes letter from Cody Firearms Records Office showing shipment to Wells Fargo Express Company, June 22, 1915, making this a great rarity in Western gun collecting: a true Wells Fargo scatter gun.
